BEIJING Pittsburgh Pirates Jersey , Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- China's non-financial outbound direct investment (ODI) dropped 41.8 percent year on year to 68.72 billion U.S. dollars in the first eight months, official data showed Thursday.
Chinese companies made the outbound investment in more than 4,789 overseas enterprises of 152 countries and regions from January to August, the Ministry of Commerce said on its website.
The plunge narrowed 2.5 percentage points from the January-July period, and the ODI structure continued to improve, according to ministry spokesman Gao Feng.
The investment mainly went to the leasing and commercial services, manufacturing, wholesale and retail, and information technology sectors.
As the government moved to curb irrational investment, there were no new investment projects in real estate, sports and the entertainment sectors, Gao said.
Since late 2016, the ministry has cooperated with other departments to reinforce inspections into the authenticity and regulation compliance of outbound investment to optimize investment structure.
Outbound investment to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative stood at 8.55 billion dollars, accounting for 12.4 percent of the total ODI, up 4.3 percentage points from the same period of 2016.

UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday expressed his full support for a new initiative to negotiate a political solution to the situation in Venezuela.
In a statement, the secretary-general voiced encouragement for mediation ahead of a round of talks sccheduled for Wednesday in the Dominican Republic between Venezuela's government and the opposition.
"The secretary-general reiterates his firm conviction that the situation in Venezuela requires a political solution based on dialogue and compromise between the government and the opposition to ensure peaceful coexistence among all Venezuelans," said the statement.
The spokesperson added that Guterres "encourages the Venezuelan political actors to seize this opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to address the country's challenges through mediation and peaceful means."
Leaders of the Venezuelan government and the opposition said Tuesday that they would send representatives in response to an invitation from the Dominican Republic to explore the possibility of resuming talks on resolving the political crisis.
Former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and Dominican Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas sent the invitation earlier in the day, encouraging Venezuelan government leaders and opposition members to participate in a new round of dialogue.
Venezuela has been witnessing a months-long political crisis as the opposition coalition Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD) was trying to stop President Nicolas Maduro's government from electing a National Constituent Assembly (ANC), which is tasked with debating amendments to the constitution.
The opposition fears that the amendments would serve to consolidate the ruling socialist party's hold on power.
Before the July 30, when 545 members of the ANC were elected, MUD-led anti-government demonstrations went violent, burning and vandalizing buildings.
More than 100 lives were claimed on both sides during the political turmoil, according to reports.

What is a vehicle transport company?
Vehicle transport companies are those shipping companies that transport a wide range of vehicles from their location to their destination. Individuals, manufacturers or business companies that deal with buying and selling cars usually employ them, in order to ease their work.
These companies also choose to extend their services to improve the number of their clients, because the vehicle consumer trend is in a continuous change. Some individuals are moving from one country to another in search of the car model according to their taste and preference.
What are the advantages of vehicle transport companies?
Both individuals and companies prefer vehicle transport companies because of the variety of the provided services. If you are pleased of the quality of their services from previous transports, you can still hire them to transport other vehicles you need to move.
They are considered the most convenient shipping method, because they can transport all types of vehicles, such as cars, motorcycles, boats or RVs. If you want to ship your car to your new residence, or to a customer destination, vehicle transport companies are the best option you can have. It is upon you to decide whether their rates are affordable or not.
You do not have to look for other shipping companies if you have to ship other types of vehicles, such as a tractor or a motorcycle, as it can be a hassle in case you previously hired a car shipping company that deals exclusively with cars.
